Respiratory
Therapy
Breathing... it's one of those things
we take for granted. But rising levels of pollution, combined
with an aging population, are making breathing difficulties
more common. Respiratory therapists are crucial members of the
healthcare team at Queen of Peace Hospital. They help, treat,
and monitor patients' cardiopulmonary needs.
COMMON INVOLVEMENT
At Queen of Peace, our respiratory therapists perform many different
procedures, including:
• intubating patients
• helping patients research ways to quit smoking
• providing education to patients with asthma, pneumonia,
chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and heart disease
• suctioning the trachea and lungs of patients
• monitoring mechanical ventilation systems
• following up on sleep study results with patients
• administering inhaled medications and medical gases.
Hospital respiratory therapists provide care for adults, children,
and newborns in a wide variety of situations. They always strive
to be sensitive to your physical and psychological needs.
Respiratory therapists at Queen of Peace make a real difference
in our patients' lives. Whether helping an asthmatic child in
the emergency room who is having difficulty breathing or educating
an elderly patient with chronic lung disease, you will find
our therapists caring for patients in many different situations.
