Your doctor has admitted you to the ICCU Intensive
Coronary Care Unit. Perhaps you were experiencing shortness
of breath, weakness, heart palpitations, chest pain/pressure,
or had passed out. Or you may be dealing with a severe infection,
lung disease, stroke, gastrointestinal bleed, or heart condition.
We understand that this is potentially stressful time in your
life. Be assured that the Queen of Peace
Intensive Coronary Care Unit is staffed by specially trained
nurses and is equipped with an advanced cardiac monitoring
system.
The unit nurses work closely with Abbott Northwestern Hospital
and Minneapolis Heart Institute to provide heart attack patients
with prompt access to life saving interventions. These drugs can greatly
reduce the amount of damage to your heart and may dramatically
improve your recovery.
It's reassuring to know that excellent technology and staff
are close at hand when minutes count.
The Hospital's link to Minneapolis Heart and Abbott mean 24-hour-a-day
consultation, electrocardiogram (EKG) testing here, and readings
via fax from these metropolitan facilities. Ongoing medical
education on cardiac care for the ICCU nurses and affiliated
physicians result in life-saving care.
