Spiritual Care

During illness, surgery, and hospitalization, all areas of life can be significantly affected. Queen of Peace Hospital recognizes the human spirit often needs special care during these times; we have trained individuals who can respond to your spiritual and emotional needs.

Spiritual Care Staff

We can help patients and families if you:

  • Need someone to listen
  • Have religious or spiritual concerns
  • Are feeling anxious or discouraged
  • Would like someone to pray with
  • Are struggling with, or wanting to discuss matters of faith
  • Would like to receive a sacrament
  • Want your clergy, spiritual leader, or place of worship notified
  • Desire any kind of pastoral counseling

Social Worker Assistance

Queen of Peace also has a social worker on staff to assist patients in many ways. Similar in some ways to our chaplain's role, our social worker helps patients find service options (home health care, housing alternatives, etc.) to meet their need when they are discharged from the hospital following illness, injury, or surgery. She is also available to help patients with living wills (advance directives).

For social work assistance, you are invited to call Peggy Sullivan, LSW at

Chapel

The Chapel at Queen of Peace, located near the east entrance, is always open for private meditation and prayer.

Sacraments

Our staff can administer or assist in providing requested sacraments — baptism, Holy Communion, confession, and the Sacrament of the Sick, as well as other faith tradition rituals and spiritual expressions of healing and hope.

Chaplains are on call 24 hours a day. To contact spiritual care staff, ask your nurse or dial the operator and ask for the Spiritual Care Department:
